Électricité

Under the auspices of the workshop “Urban Scenography,” which was held in 2006 in Kinshasa in the Democrative Republic of the Congo, I carried out a project in public space in collaboration with Dorothee Kreutzfeldt, that reflected a temporary act of signaling. In cooperation with local residents, locations were marked where corroded electrical cables lying exposed on the streets or precarious electric installations in urban spaces harbored a wide range of dangers. Furthermore, we addressed the problem of load throw-off, a common practice in Kinshasa when in case of power shortage whole quarters of the city are deprived of electricity… for days or even weeks.
